It’s often not until you’re speaking to someone from or in another country that you realise just how weird some British foods are. Every country has them, but as we are so regularly surrounded by our own land’s disturbing foods, we forget that we have them too, and in abundance. If you’re from any part of the UK, you’ll likely relate to at least some of these, and if you’re not then you’re in for a true look at how odd our diets can be. 1) Iceberg Lettuce

Perhaps the dullest of greens, the iceberg lettuce is probably the most common leaf on our plates. Whether you eat it in a supermarket salad, as the single reluctant vegetable in your Subway sandwich, or in your Mum’s prawn cocktail on Christmas Day, you probably come across it at least a couple of times a year.
