Instead of giving in to the annual diet and weight guilt-trip, here are some options to refresh yourself in January 2024.

January always seems to be the darkest month, literally and metaphorically. The festivities have passed, savings have been spent, and we’ve likely eaten a lot more than normal. It brings the first days of a new year, yet is considered the worst month of them all.

One of the reasons is often the guilt that comes with the end of the holiday season. The pressure to “start over” in the first month of the year isn’t usually enjoyable or particularly productive.

If you’re feeling the annual push from ads, influencers, or your own scales, to make big dietary changes and therefore lose weight. Take a minute to read this first. From someone who has felt the pressure and pain of eating disorders for years on end, and finally crawled out the other side, I get it.

Here are a few ideas that have helped me in past to refresh myself and calm the angry voice of food-related guilt in January. Cast aside the intense calorie restriction and the trendy “lifestyle changes,” and sample something else instead.
